Amazon is rolling out its new Prime Video feature ‘Dialogue Boost’, a feature that is designed to help people understand dialogue in movies better. This feature uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze the original audio of a movie and identify sounds that may be too low to be heard. It then amplifies them so they can be better understood.
The feature is available on all versions of Prime Video from mobile apps to smart TVs, with no special equipment required. You can choose between two levels of volume for the audio: ‘English Dialogue Boost: Medium’ and ‘English Dialogue Boost: High’. Initially, only select English Amazon Originals such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will have the feature. Plans to roll it out in other titles later this year are in place.
This feature is not just for those hard of hearing, but for everyone whose movie experience is affected by poor audio mixing. Amazon aims to provide a comfortable viewing experience that can be tailored to one’s personal preferences.
Amazon has been working on improving its sound output in recent months; earlier in February, they introduced an update allowing Fire TV devices to stream audio directly into hearing implants, something that was not available on other comparable smart TVs. They hope that more innovation in sound and image quality will make movie viewing comfortable, accessible and enjoyable.
The company behind this great feature is Amazon. Founded by Jeff Bezos in Seattle in 1994, Amazon currently operates as an e-commerce and cloud computing company, with a market cap of $1.69 trillion as of 2021. Amazon has expanded its list of services from books to music and movies, showcasing its innovative and tech-forward mindset.
Amazon’s chief spokesperson for this new Dialogue Boost feature is representative. Their name and picture have not been disclosed, but its clear that this representative has been an important voice to get the feature approved and out on the market. They have been active in communicating with the public about the feature and its potential effects, and have hopefully made the feature an easy and enjoyable experience for the users.
