Traditional Malware Exploits ChatGPT for Attacks

Date:

Traditional malware attackers are exploiting the popularity of ChatGPT and other generative AI programs to launch attacks, Palo Alto Networks has warned. The cybersecurity firm said its research unit witnessed a 910% increase in monthly domain registrations related to ChatGPT between November 2022 and April 2023. The popularity of ChatGPT has also led to a rise in grayware, software that is somewhere between benign and malicious, including adware, spyware and potentially unwanted programs. In addition, Palo Alto Networks reported a 55% increase in vulnerability exploitation attempts per customer on average, thanks to a rise in exploits using the Log4j and Realtek supply chain vulnerabilities.
