Ten Endpoint Security Challenges and How to Overcome Them

Date:

Cybersecurity companies are facing increasing pressure to consolidate their endpoint protection platforms as companies struggle to keep up with rapidly evolving threats. One of the main reasons companies are breached is because they don’t know how many endpoints are on their networks or what condition they are in, with only 60% of enterprises being aware of less than 75% of the endpoint devices on their network. To improve their cyber-resilience, CISOs and CIOs are looking to invest in proactive tools and capabilities that will help them continuously improve their endpoint security posture management. The adoption of real-time telemetry data and artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are becoming increasingly prevalent approaches to tackling cybersecurity threats.
Absolute Software, BitDefender, CrowdStrike, Cisco, Ivanti and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint are leading vendors in the area of capturing real-time telemetry data. Meanwhile, Automox, Ivanti Neurons for Patch Intelligence, Kaseya, ManageEngine and Tanium are innovating in AI and ML to automate patch management, which is an area with the most room for improvement.

Boston Consulting Group report As Budgets Get Tighter, Cybersecurity Must Get Smarter, found that companies are prioritizing consolidation in the areas of firewalls, user authentication and access management, and endpoint protection platforms.

VentureBeat interviewed Marcus Fowler, CEO of AI cybersecurity company Darktrace, who said To maximize ROI in the face of budget cuts, CISOs will need to demonstrate investment into proactive tools and capabilities that continuously improve their cyber-resilience.

Regarding the current cybersecurity landscape, CISOs and CIOs have reported that amidst falling revenues, cybersecurity budgets are under increased scrutiny, with cybersecurity sales cycles taking longer and existing customers asking for price breaks and extended terms.
