Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services company, has announced plans to train 25,000 engineers on generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools and services developed by OpenAI, a renowned AI research firm. TCS will offer these generative AI services on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, making them accessible to its clients.
To support this initiative, TCS has launched a new offering called TCS Generative AI Enterprise Adoption. This enterprise unit will provide deployments of OpenAI’s generative AI tools through the Azure cloud platform, helping clients enhance customer experience, launch new business models, increase revenue, and improve productivity.
This move follows TCS’s partnership with Google Cloud in May, where they collaborated to launch generative AI enterprise solutions using Google’s cloud platform. The IT services sector is increasingly adopting generative AI to enhance their services, especially as traditional revenue streams such as the banking and financial services sector experience slowdowns worldwide. Brokerage firm Motilal Oswal Financial Services has recognized the long-term potential of generative AI for the IT services industry.
HCLTech, another IT services company, presented on generative AI in June, highlighting the various use cases that can be derived from this emerging technology. Accenture, a multinational IT services firm, also reported securing generative AI contracts worth $100 million in the four months leading up to June this year.
TCS’s innovation and engineering for both Microsoft and Google’s cloud-based generative AI offerings will be centered around its technology innovation hubs located in the US, Canada, The Netherlands, and Japan, also known as TCS Pace Ports.
While TCS already has 50,000 employees trained in AI, this additional batch of 25,000 employees will receive specialized certification in Azure OpenAI technology to cater to the growing demand in the new enterprise unit. With this initiative, TCS aims to further capitalize on the promise of generative AI and meet the evolving needs of its clients.
In conclusion, TCS’s collaboration with OpenAI and Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform demonstrates its commitment to advancing AI capabilities and providing cutting-edge solutions to its clients. Through its new enterprise unit, TCS is positioning itself to drive customer experience improvements, business model innovation, revenue growth, and enhanced productivity. With its extensive training program and focus on generative AI, TCS is poised to harness the potential of this technology and remain at the forefront of the IT services industry.
