Study Shows People with Mild Cognitive Impairment May Regain Memory

Date:

A new study finds that older adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment have a better chance of regaining their memory if they believe in positive age beliefs from their culture. Published in the JAMA Network Open, the research highlights that the positive age beliefs allowed participants to recover from MCI up to two years faster than those with negative ideas.

Lead author of the study, Becca Levy, professor in Public Health and Psychology, claims that the research provides an answer to why some make full recoveries while others do not. Levy believes that positive age beliefs allow a reduction in stress caused by cognitive challenges, increases self-confidence, and improves a person’s performance.

Co-author of the study, Martin Slade, a biostatistician and lecturer in Internal Medicine at Yale, maintained that a culture-based factor, that is, positive age beliefs, helps MCI recoveries. Additionally, the study found that those with positive age beliefs were less likely to develop MCI to start with, regardless of age and physical health.

Indian startup PredOmix developed an artificial intelligence based blood test to accurately detect early cancer. The technology aids in identifying minute changes within the blood cells to detect cancerous growths. This blood test can be used to identify cancer at a much earlier stage with increased accuracy.

AI-based Novel Cancer Testing by PredOmix is promising to save thousands of lives that would otherwise be in peril. By offering a second chance of hope to early cancer detection, this technique presents an innovative approach to ensuring that more people receive timely treatment for cancer.

Omicron sub-variants of the COVID-19 virus have been identified by researchers. This sub-type of the coronavirus is more successful at evading the body’s defences, leading to large-scale infection. Omicron variants are also more stable and transmissible, meaning they can spread much more easily.

This discovery has necessitated the need for further research into how to control sub variants of SARS-CoV-2. Governments, scientists and public health experts worldwide need to take steps so that individuals are better protected and provided with higher levels of immunity.

It is important to remember that while MCI and cancers can be very scary, the research is continually improving and advancing the early detection, prevention and treatment of these illnesses. Positive beliefs and actions can go a long way in combating the symptoms and prolonging one’s life. Thus, everybody should be conscious of the own health and take preventive steps as much as possible.
