Stealer Malware Targets South African Users’ ChatGPT Data

South African users of ChatGPT have been targeted by stealer malware, according to Singapore-based cybersecurity company Group-IB. ChatGPT is a chatbot platform that stores the history of users’ queries and AI responses, and unauthorised access to the accounts could expose confidential or sensitive information. Stealer malware collects data including credentials and stored information and sends it to the malware operator. Group-IB has identified 1,019 infected devices with saved ChatGPT credentials in South Africa. Info stealers work non-selectively, meaning that victims are infected through phishing or other means. As a result, the malware can collect data from as many computers as possible.
