Startup Success Secret: Corporate Experience Prioritized Over Institute Reputation, Says Author and Entrepreneur
Investors in the startup ecosystem are placing more value on corporate experience rather than the reputation of the educational institutes graduates come from. This insight comes from Manasij Ganguli, an author and entrepreneur, who shared his wisdom at an event organized by the Indian Institute of Management-Nagpur (IIM-Nagpur).
Ganguli, the author of ‘The Economy Class Founder’ and the founder of ZapScale, emphasized that investors are primarily interested in startups whose products align with their vision. He advised young entrepreneurs to gain corporate experience before embarking on their startup journeys, recommending that they work for a couple of years in the corporate world first.
The talk session with Ganguli was part of the Zero Mile Samvaad initiative by IIM-Nagpur, which aims to bring prominent speakers to interact with and inspire students. The event was organized in collaboration with the Vidarbha Literary Fest and moderated by Prateek Chandrayaan, the founder of Konverge AI.
During the session, Ganguli shared his own experience of selling his first startup, Threadsol Softwares, because he needed funds. He also highlighted the importance of ambition, stating that people are often attracted to what they don’t possess.
