Sports Officials and Media Influencers Collaborate to Shape the Future of Sports Media at Global Media Congress
ABU DHABI, 5th September, 2023 (WAM) — The Emirates News Agency (WAM) recently hosted a brainstorming session aimed at shaping the future of sports media. The session brought together sports officials, decision-makers, prominent sports media figures, and influencers to generate innovative ideas and outcomes for the upcoming Global Media Congress (GMC).
The second edition of the congress, scheduled for November under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aims to explore the crucial role of sports media in shaping the culture of generations.
Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between national sports and media institutions in organizing this international event. He highlighted WAM’s success in establishing partnerships with over 120 agencies, television stations, and media institutions worldwide. This collaboration enables WAM to share exceptional sporting experiences and inspiring local success stories in multiple languages and across continents.
During the session, key figures in the sports industry discussed three main topics: the current issues and challenges facing sports media, sports as soft power beyond national borders, and the impact of modern technologies and artificial intelligence on the future of sports media.
Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), and Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), along with other senior media figures, shared their valuable opinions and insights. The session was moderated by Abdullah Abdulkareem, Acting Executive Director for the News Content Sector at WAM. Following the event, the outcomes and ideas generated will be compiled and presented to the GMC’s Higher Organizing Committee. These contributions will shape the discussions and workshops held on the day dedicated to sports media during the congress.
