Snapchat Introduces Chatbot Powered by ChatGPT for All Users

Date:

Snapchat is taking the chat experience to the next level by rolling out a ChatGPT powered chatbot called My AI to all users. The chatbot provides recommendations, helps you with plans and can even generate beautiful haikus in seconds! Prior to this, the chatbot was only accessible to Snapchat+ subscribers, leaving most of the user base unaware of its existence.

ChatGPT has been around for more than a year and uses vast datasets for training. It boasts of its originality when generating responses to prompts and this caught the attention of tech companies, sparking an “AI arms race” amongst them. Snap, Instacart, and Quizlet are but some of the partners opened that are experimenting with ChatGPT.

However, there are some risks associated with this sudden introduction of AI in our lives. Depending on the data it has been fed, it can spread inaccurate information or provide inappropriate responses. Snap is making sure that this experience is safe and fun by implementing moderation technology alongside a feature on app parental tools.

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, launched the product in November 2022, and with the power of its AI, companies like Snap have been able to make the chat experience more engaging for its users. With this announcement of its public release, the growing trend of AI bots can only be expected to continue.
