Samsung has announced the launch of its AI Nutritionist App, which aims to provide personalized diet plans and global recipes. With the market already saturated with platforms like Alexa and Pinterest that offer recipes, Samsung is looking to differentiate its new platform, called Samsung Food.
The AI nutritionist platform utilizes artificial intelligence to deliver personalized recipes based on users’ preferences. It will also merge all of Samsung’s food-related expertise and offer access to roughly 160,000 global recipes. The application will feature tailored recipes and diet plan services using AI technology.
Users can also connect their Samsung Health accounts to the platform, enabling them to add information such as body composition, BMI, and calorie intake to receive a more personalized diet plan. In collaboration with British food tech startup Whisk, which Samsung acquired pre-pandemic, the platform will offer functions such as exploring recipes for a wide variety of global meals and designing custom diet plans.
The platform will be launched this week in 104 countries and will be available in eight languages. Samsung has stated that the number of recipes will continue to expand as the platform becomes accessible to consumers.
In addition, Samsung’s cooking-related appliances, including refrigerators, can be used in conjunction with the app. Users will be able to supervise their food items while using the platform.
Park Chan-woo, head of Samsung’s Home Internet of Things Business, explained that Samsung has been introducing various appliances that enhance smart cooking experiences for users, utilizing AI and Internet of Things technologies. The Samsung Food platform is expected to serve as a personal nutritionist, offering highly personalized food experiences to users.
The app also allows users to adjust their settings to specific dietary preferences such as veganism, which will then be reflected in the recipes provided. Users can also easily modify cooking times or search for recipes that utilize only the ingredients they have on hand.
Furthermore, the platform features an online community function where users can share their recipes and experiences related to food and cooking.
According to Chan-woo, Samsung expects that approximately one million home chefs will be using the app by 2024.
