Samsung Works on Developing Alternative to ChatGPT: Report

Date:

Samsung is reportedly developing its own Large Language Model (LLM) as an alternative to the ChatGPT it previously used. According to a report by Chosun Media, Samsung is fully deploying its first version of the AI model by the end of July. The organization is allegedly devoting many resources and manpower to develop AI, focusing on its uses for documentation, software development, and language translation within the company. Furthermore, Samsung has restricted the use of GPU resources within the organization to redirect them toward training its upcoming AI model, which is expected to be used for in-house purposes only. The development of the new AI LLM has been driven by the recent leak of Samsung’s internal data while using ChatGPT within the organization. As such, Samsung understands the urgency of creating its very own AI-based LLM solution. While limited information about the development has been released, it is expected that more details about this upcoming project will come out soon.
