Samsung Validates 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X on MediaTek’s Dimensity Platform

Date:

Samsung Electronics has recently completed the validation of the industry’s fastest LPDDR5X, a remarkable achievement in advanced memory technology. The 10.7 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) Low Power Double Data Rate 5X (LPDDR5X) DRAM has been successfully verified for use with MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity platform, showcasing a significant 25% improvement in power consumption and performance.

The collaboration between Samsung and MediaTek has led to the validation of the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X on MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9400 System on Chip (SoC), to be released later this year. This cutting-edge technology offers longer battery life for mobile devices and enhanced on-device AI performance, paving the way for faster AI features like voice-text generation without the need for server or cloud access.

YongCheol Bae, Executive Vice President of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, stated, Samsung will continue to innovate through active collaboration with customers and provide optimum solutions for the on-device AI era. JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President at MediaTek, also expressed his enthusiasm, mentioning that MediaTek’s Dimensity chipset is set to lead the market in delivering AI functionality and mobile performance at unprecedented levels.

The validation of Samsung’s LPDDR5X with MediaTek not only signifies technological advancement but also demonstrates the growing importance of energy-efficient, high-performance DRAM solutions in the on-device AI market. This collaboration is expected to expand the application of LPDDR DRAM beyond mobile devices to servers, PCs, and automotive devices, solidifying Samsung’s position as a leader in the low-power, high-performance DRAM market.

As the demand for on-device AI capabilities continues to rise, the successful validation of Samsung’s LPDDR5X with MediaTek sets a new standard in mobile technology. The partnership between these two industry giants highlights the importance of innovation and collaboration in driving the future of the semiconductor industry.
