Samsung Unveils AI-Powered Galaxy S24 Flagship Smartphones with Advanced Features, New Zealand

Date:

Samsung has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S24 series, which are set to be released next week. These new devices come with a range of advanced features and upgrades, thanks to Samsung’s advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). The company is particularly excited about the AI-powered capabilities of the S24 range, as they promise to open up new possibilities for users.

One of the key AI-powered features is the ‘Galaxy AI’, which is built on Samsung’s innovation heritage and understanding of how people use their phones. This new feature is expected to ignite the next decade of mobile innovation. Samsung’s mobile president, TM Roh, expressed excitement about seeing how users around the world will empower their everyday lives with Galaxy AI.

The AI-powered features showcased in the S24 range include translation tools, a new search function, and photo editing capabilities. Here are some of the highlights:

– Circle to Search: In partnership with Google, this feature allows users to circle anything on the phone’s screen and immediately pull up information about it. For example, users can point the camera at someone wearing a piece of clothing and find out what it is and where to buy it.

– Interpreter: This feature translates between two languages in real-time during in-person conversations. It does not require an internet connection and initially supports 13 languages, with the possibility of adding more later.

– Live Translate: Similar to the Interpreter feature, Live Translate translates phone conversations instead of in-person interactions.

– Transcript Assist: This feature transcribes speech recordings and provides summaries of them. It can also translate the transcriptions into other languages.

– Galaxy AI Editing Tools: The S24 range offers advanced photo editing features such as shadow removal, erase reflection, and blur reduction. These editing capabilities can be done directly on the device.

– Instant Slow-mo: This feature adds a slow-motion effect to videos by generating additional frames.

– Note Assist: The Samsung Notes app has been upgraded to automatically provide summaries of users’ notes, create templates, and create covers with brief previews for quicker access.

– Chat Assist: This feature suggests ways to change the tone of a message to make it more appropriate. For example, it can help make a message to a colleague more polite.

In addition to these AI-powered features, the S24 range boasts other improvements, such as more durable titanium frames, an enhanced cooling system to prevent overheating, and brighter screens. The Ultra model, in particular, offers a 5x optical zoom and improvements to digital zoom for clearer photos and videos with up to 100x zoom.

The S24 range will be available in New Zealand from January 26, with pre-orders opening today. The prices for the three models start at $1649 for the Galaxy S24, $2049 for the Galaxy S24 Plus, and $2449 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. These prices represent an increase compared to last year’s S23 range and are similar to how Apple priced its iPhone 15 range in New Zealand.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 range aims to offer advanced features and enhanced AI capabilities to provide users with a seamless and innovative smartphone experience. With the integration of AI-powered tools and improvements in performance, Samsung is setting the stage for the next generation of mobile technology.
