A new tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) has been released by medical chain Carbon Health Technologies Inc. The GPT-based system creates electronic health records by fusing audio recordings of patient appointments with other data. Amazon Transcribe Medical is used to record and transcribe the appointments, working in conjunction with Carbon Health’s electronic health records system, which is designed to automate more processes such as the placing of prescription and lab orders, scheduling follow-up appointments and making referrals. Carbon Health’s new tool aims to allow doctors to spend more time with patients, improving patient care while also enabling clinics to see more patients without them having to work longer hours.
This tool has the potential to revolutionise the way healthcare providers work, with nearly 90% of records being accepted by healthcare providers without edits. The tool also generates codes for diagnostics, billing, and patients’ care instructions. The tool takes less than four minutes to create a medical record, allowing clinics to be more efficient in their everyday tasks. The AI tool has increased efficiency throughout the healthcare service, from drug research to patient diagnosis.
Carbon Health’s mission is to use technology to improve care and increase a patient’s face-time with a healthcare provider. We are rethinking everything we built and saying, ‘In a world where we have very powerful language models, how would we do these things differently?’ said Carbon Health CEO Eren Bali. By using AI technology, Carbon Health is helping to address an ongoing shortage of doctors in the US, making doctors more likely to stay in their jobs and be able to see more patients.
Carbon Health Technologies is used by the company’s more than 130 clinics across 12 states to record data for better patient care. This innovative technology could have a significant impact on the future of healthcare in the US, enhancing care and improving the overall patient experience.
