OpenAI has announced updates for two language models, GPT-3.5 Turbo and GPT-4, and an accompanying reduction in prices for accessing them through its APIs. The upgrades include a new feature enabling developers to easily describe program operation conversationally to an AI which generates the computer code for them. The updates aim to give developers more reliable access to data from external tools and APIs. Alongside the features, OpenAI has cut the cost of accessing the smaller models by 25% and halved the price of the larger model. Ada, an OpenAI model for embedding text, has been reduced by 75% in price. OpenAI will also award $1m for generative AI cybersecurity projects.
