OpenAI CEO’s Plan to Contain Super Smart AI

With the rapid development of AI technology and its potential to transform the world, it’s essential that we create strategies to ensure that these AI systems remain safe and beneficial. OpenAI founder Sam Altman and two colleagues recently proposed a plan for ‘the governance of superintelligence’ which shares the imperative steps to ensure control and regulation of AI systems more intelligent and capable than humans.

The plan requires coordination among those involved in creating and utilizing AI systems, to define rules and limitations. Additionally, governments should contribute resources to a dedicated project or agency focused on superintelligence, and form an international authority with the ability to oversee and regulate it. Lastly, Altman and colleagues stress the significance of safety research to tackle the challenge of superintelligence, thus innovation and research is essential.

OpenAI is dedicated to safety research and exploring methodologies to develop and implement superintelligence safely. Altman emphasizes that AI models than are not superintelligent yet should be free to grow and improve without too much regulation. Although the company is building superintelligence, it believes that it will make the world a better place and also wants to make sure it is done right.

Sam Altman is the CEO and co-founder of OpenAI, a research laboratory whose mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. He was also the president of Y Combinator, the world’s largest startup accelerator, and co-author of many economic development projects in science and technology. Altman is an advocate for open-source technology and believes that artificial intelligence should be used for the benefit of all of humanity.
