At Google’s I/O 2023 event, it was no surprise that Artificial Intelligence (AI) was at the main focus. Knowing this, Microsoft decided to take early action and launch its GPT-4 feature right ahead of the event. Bing Chat was announced to be available without a waitlist, and any Microsoft account holder could access this GPT-4 upgrade for free.
The only requirement to take advantage of this feature was to have a Microsoft account, which does present a degree of privacy concern, since the company collects plenty of user data. Microsoft does have privacy settings in place, and they also show ads in Bing Chat.
Thankfully, now Bing Chat permits unauthenticated access with no need for a Microsoft account. However, the downside of this freedom is the limit of five chat turns per session. This limit is set by the Bing Vice President, Michael Schechter. That being said, one could get a Microsoft account and access Bing Chat with up to 20 chat turns at a time.
OpenAI also provides a ChatGPT Plus subscription, for which users have to pay $20 monthly, to gain access to a full GPT-4 experience without needing to sign into Bing Chat or use a Microsoft account.
Microsoft stands true to its mission to provide customers with best-in-class products and services. Their consistent effort to refine the products is quite praiseworthy.
Michael Schechter, the Vice President of Bing, played a vital role in launching the feature of GPT-4 in advance. He is a tech enthuthasiast and highly regarded as one of the most influential names in the community. His revolutionary take and forward-thinking has enabled millions of users to enjoy the benefits of GPT-4 in a safe and secure way.
