More than half of Americans have already experimented with generative AI in the past year, hoping to enhance their personal productivity and creativity, as per recent research from Adobe.
The study revealed that over 50% of respondents had tested out generative AI technology, with a significant 81% using it in their personal lives compared to only 30% in professional settings.
A growing number of individuals, around 41%, now claim to incorporate generative AI into their daily routines, showcasing the technology’s potential impact on daily life.
Despite the technology’s ability to quickly process vast amounts of data, only 17% of participants admitted to using it for educational purposes, suggesting a more experimental approach rather than heavy reliance.
Among the various tasks, brainstorming, creating initial drafts of written materials, developing visuals or presentations, exploring alternative search methods, summarizing text, crafting images or art, and writing code emerged as key applications for generative AI.
The study also uncovered consumer hopes for generative AI to enhance their creativity, even though 72% believe it can never match human creativity.
Looking ahead, individuals foresee generative AI aiding in learning new skills, simplifying price comparison and shopping, improving customer support interactions, creating social media content, and coding. The research also highlighted the potential impacts of generative AI on retail and e-commerce sectors.
As generative AI shifts from being a novelty to a tool for productivity and enhanced experiences, companies worldwide are increasingly considering its implementation across a wide range of industries.
