New AI-Powered Chatbot from Tom’s Hardware

Date:

Tom’s Hardware has joined the craze of chatbots by recently releasing its own AI-powered chatbot called Hammerbot. The chatbot is designed to help users find concise answers to tech questions based on Tom’s Hardware’s expert editorial and testing. With Hammerbot on your side you can instantly get advice or be pointed in the right direction for further reading.

The chatbot was created using OpenAI’s text-davinci-003 model (otherwise known as GPT-3) but was trained on a custom dataset of articles, which is stored in a vector database from Weaviate. Being a work in progress, Tom’s Hardware is looking to bring more capabilities to the Hammerbot, including access to structured data like product specs and pricing. The bot was coded primarily with Python and LangChain which makes it easier to customize AI output.

Tom’s Hardware is owned by the well-known media giant Future PLC which also owns TechRadar. With Future PLC wanting to join the chatbot trend TechRadar is also thinking of adding its own AI-powered chatbot based on the same key technology. Chatbots are here to stay and both of these sites are leading the way with their own innovative creations.
