Narayan Murthy, the co-founder of the renowned Indian firm Infosys recently stated that nothing – not even AI-powered chatbots such as ChatGPT – can come close to the immense potential of the human mind. The tech philanthropist stated his opinion during an interview with CNBC, adding that ChatGPT has proven to be a great addition when it comes to generating knowledge or writing essays.
Despite the many apprehensions that AI-driven chatbots such as ChatGPT could take over human jobs, Murthy continues to believe in the power of the human mind. Ranked 3rd in the ranks of CNBC’s 25 Global Business Leaders, Murthy believes that it is only human creativity that can differentiate one person from another. He believes that if two people were to compete while using ChatGPT as their base, the one with smarter ideas and clever tricks is bound to surpass the other.
ChatGPT was first released on November 2022 by OpenAI, an American artificial intelligence research lab. Since then, it has revolutionized the internet, giving tech giants like Google and Alibaba an incentive to launch their own versions of AI-driven chatbots. With OpenAI recently introducing version 4 of ChatGPT with its stack of advanced features, the possibilities of AI have grown even further.
As for Murthy, he will continue to utilize ChatGPT and its AI-driven technology as his assistant, but he maintains that the human mind is the most powerful imagination machine – an idea that nobody can defy.
Infosys is a global corporation which, under Murthy’s tutelage, provides to clients business consulting, technology, engineering, and outsourcing services. Murthy himself was the CEO of Infosys from 1981 to 2002, greatly increasing Infosys’ profits and helping solidify its place as one of India’s top firms. He has also been incredibly involved in philanthropy, co-founding the MurthyDynamics Foundation, which is dedicated to providing health care, education and social outreach to regional communities.
Along with being one of the world’s most influential tech business leaders, Narayan Murthy is an inspiration to many. During his interview with CNBC, he presented an optimistic view of the future of AI and its potential to aid us — provided that human minds stay at the forefront. Despite the potential disruptions of technology, Murthy believes that human ingenuity is capable of delivering anything and everything — and is something that no one should underestimate.
