Microsoft has recently released Copilot technology, which is based on OpenAI’s GPT-4, to its Viva platform. Viva is Microsoft’s employee engagement and experience platform which was released in February 2021 to help improve remote work experience.
Through this announcement of the advanced AI-based technology, Microsoft aims to give its customers an easier way to understand and engage with their workforce. With Copilot, the capabilities of Microsoft 365 such as Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel will be integrated with the Graph data which will be integrated with Copilot. Additionally, the Copilot technology will allow users to draft OKR recommendations from existing Microsoft Word documents, understand and analyze employee feedback, and sum up the details of OKRs quickly.
Microsoft’s newly released study, the Work Trend Index Special Report, suggests that in order to encourage employee engagement; companies need to provide clarity over communication channels and set goals, and also use data-driven feedback to improve over time.
The company, which has around 20 million active Viva users, is expected to roll out the new Copilot features in Viva later this year.
Kirk Koenigsbauer, the Chief Operating Officer at Microsoft, believes that the AI-powered Copilot in Viva will be beneficial to customers as access to the AI features would be right within the application. He also mentioned that Microsoft is taking the necessary steps to ensure customer data safety and protection, as their data will not be exposed to the public or used for training their language model.
