Microsoft is Finally Making Windows 11 Less Annoying – Here’s What to Expect

Date:

Windows 11 is growing more popular amongst users, despite having a difficult start. Recently, Microsoft was revealed to scale back one of Windows 11’s more annoying features in the form of push notifications. Predefined Windows apps can send out notifications, ranging from Edge trying to share Bing news to the Weather app giving a heads-up of possible rain. Of course, a Focus Assist feature exists to reduce these notifications, but this can also cut back notifications that the user may actually want.

The new ‘smart opt-out’ feature hints at users being asked whether they want to disable notifications from an app if they haven’t used the app for a while. This should go a long way in ridding Windows 11 of its otherwise unnecessary issue, as users are given more control over the notifications they’d like to receive from preloaded apps. Microsoft is also careful not to stuff AI into this new feature, and it just keeps the process of reducing notifications as simple and straightforward as possible. Instead, all the user needs to do is not respond to an app for a month or more, and the feature will then recommend disabling notifications from that particular application – no deep learning algorithm needed.

Microsoft is a tech giant and one of the most successful companies in the world. The company is primarily known for its Windows operating system and the Office suite, however it has ventured into the hardware department with its Xbox video game consoles and the Microsoft Surface lineup of laptops and tablets. More recently, the company has also made moves into the AI and cloud computing space with its Azure and Microsoft Dynamics products.
