Microsoft is continuing its work on its Hololens 2 headset which it debuted before the pandemic began. The technological giant hopes that the headset can revolutionize industries like manufacturing and healthcare with the help of remote collaboration, 3D visualization, and AI-based predictions. Now, the device is getting an update with Windows 11, months after the OS was launched.
Having been limited to a variant of Windows 10, the Windows 11 update brings with it numerous benefits and new features, such as the Edge WebView2 control, which are available in preview mode prior to the full release. Users can access the update via Settings > Update & Security > Check for Updates. While Microsoft is urging customers to stay on Windows 10 if they prefer, the company is still encouraging users to take the Windows 11 update as it offers improved security.
Despite the challenges faced in the development of the device, Microsoft is pressing ahead in its ambition for a technological revolution, taking cues from other companies who are focused on mixed reality. Hopes are high that, if Hololens 2 can provide a reliable platform, further advances can be made.
