To capitalize on this market, Microsoft is reportedly working on its own AI chips, codenamed Athena, which could challenge Nvidia’s position. According to sources, Microsoft is planning to make these chips available inside the Microsoft and OpenAI environment as early as next year. Microsoft also has a strategy for future generations of AI chips.
