A Singapore-based threat intelligence firm, Group-IB, has uncovered over 100,000 ChatGPT credentials on the dark web in the past year. ChatGPT is widely used by businesses, with users entering classified information or optimizing proprietary code. The logs also contain AI responses, which could reveal personal or business secrets. Beginning with 74 stolen accounts, the amount climbed steadily to 26,902 in May 2023, falling moderately in April before peaking again. The problem is particularly prevalent in the Asia Pacific region, with India the most targeted country, reporting 12,632 stolen accounts. Two-factor authentication and regular password updates are recommended to protect against theft and the use of Group-IB products is suggested.
