This is a major step forward for the development and use of AI chatbots, as it will enable developers and users to seamlessly use plug-ins across different platforms for both consumer and business experiences. The breakthrough was made possible through a multibillion dollar investment that Microsoft had made in OpenAI earlier this year. By committing to the same open plug-in standard used by the OpenAI, both Microsoft and OpenAI have enabled interoperability between their products.
