India-Bangladesh Partnership Boosted with Launch of Knowledge Park, Driving Digital Connectivity
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma have jointly inaugurated the Knowledge Park in Chattogram. This initiative is being developed with the support of the Indian government to enhance the partnership between India and Bangladesh in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).
During the event, High Commissioner Verma emphasized the significance of this project in advancing the cooperation between the two countries in the ICT sector. He expressed his optimism that the Knowledge Park would take the economic and technological partnership to new heights. This initiative not only aims to propel Bangladesh towards its vision of Digital Bangladesh but also to transform it into a Smart Bangladesh by 2041.
High Commissioner Verma also acknowledged the role of the Knowledge Park in promoting the IT industry and IT-enabled services in Bangladesh. He highlighted that it would contribute to establishing standards, creating hubs and incubation centers, fostering entrepreneurship, and building capacity in emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, machine learning, robotics, artificial intelligence, extended reality, and other cutting-edge subjects. The establishment of these IT parks will lead to the creation of a technologically-skilled workforce, which is pivotal for the rapid growth and development of both economies in the 21st century.
To ensure environmental sustainability, the project includes the construction of Green Buildings that are energy efficient and eco-friendly. This emphasizes the commitment of both India and Bangladesh to sustainable development practices.
Furthermore, High Commissioner Verma mentioned other recent initiatives to strengthen bilateral ties in the digital realm. The newly launched India-Bangladesh Startup Bridge aims to connect startup communities from both countries, fostering greater collaboration and innovation. There are also proposals to link the digital payment systems of India and Bangladesh, further facilitating trade and financial transactions.
The foundation stone laying ceremony witnessed the presence of government officials, local leaders, IT professionals, women entrepreneurs, mediapersons, and other stakeholders. This demonstrates the collective enthusiasm and support for the partnership between India and Bangladesh in driving digital connectivity and fostering economic growth.
With the launch of the Knowledge Park, the India-Bangladesh partnership takes a significant step forward in furthering digital connectivity. By leveraging the potential of technology and nurturing a skilled workforce, both countries are poised to enhance their economic collaboration and embrace the opportunities presented by the digital age.
