The Income Tax Department of India has recently launched a mobile app called ‘AIS for Taxpayer’ to enable taxpayers to view their Annual Information Statement (AIS)/Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS) in one place. This free of charge app aims at providing a comprehensive overview of their information collected from various sources. It is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and is easy to use after the taxpayer has registered on the app by providing their PAN number, authenticating it with a OTP sent on their mobile number and email and then setting up a 4 digit PIN.
The AIS contains two parts on the app – Part A displays general information about the taxpayer such as PAN, masked Aadhar Number, Name of the Taxpayer, Date of Birth/ Incorporation/ Formation, mobile number, e-mail address and address, while Part B shows the TDS/TCS Information including the Information Code of the TDS/TCS, Information Description and the Information Value. The AIS also enables taxpayers to provide feedback on the content they see on the app.
