Guardsman Group, a security company with operations in Jamaica and across the Caribbean, has partnered with international tech firm Intellicene to expand its cybersecurity offerings. The collaboration has led to the creation of a new company called Guardsman Cyber Intelligence Limited, which will focus on providing cybersecurity technology to mid-size enterprises. Guardsman Cyber Intelligence is a subsidiary of Guardsman Metaverse, and both companies are incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into their services to attract new clients.
The security platform used by Guardsman Cyber Intelligence and Guardsman Metaverse is owned by Intellicene, but Guardsman has been granted distribution and installation rights in Jamaica as part of the partnership. The difference between Guardsman’s new platform, called the Security Operation Centre (SOP), and traditional CCTV systems is that SOP allows users to monitor multiple security cameras in real-time on a single screen. It also has the ability to detect any anomalies and track the location of security guards and potential intruders, enabling swift response in the event of a security breach.
Guardsman is marketing the new onsite service as a cost-effective solution for upgrading security systems, as the SOP platform is adaptable to older security systems. In addition to enhancing security, the platform provides a checklist of responses for emergencies such as break-ins or fires, and identifies any faulty security equipment. The aim of Guardsman Metaverse is to minimize the number of security guards required on-site, and only deploy additional guards when necessary to reduce costs for businesses.
Cybersecurity threats have been on the rise in Jamaica, with criminals targeting the country’s systems over 19 million times in the first half of this year. To combat this, both Guardsman Cyber Intelligence and Guardsman Metaverse are offering customized security solutions tailored to the specific challenges faced by local businesses. By leveraging advanced software and AI, they aim to provide a holistic approach to security that addresses the evolving risks faced by companies.
The expansion into cybersecurity puts Guardsman in competition with existing tech service providers such as tTech Limited and Symptai Consulting. However, Guardsman Cyber Intelligence distinguishes itself by offering personalized security solutions that cater to the unique needs of its clients. This strategic partnership with Intellicene allows Guardsman to tap into the growing demand for cybersecurity services in Jamaica and position itself as a leading player in the market.
While Guardsman has not disclosed the level of investment in cybersecurity and AI, the company expects to attract customers from various sectors, including business process outsourcing, healthcare, and hospitality. With its extensive experience in the security industry and the backing of Intellicene’s advanced technology, Guardsman is well-positioned to contribute to the protection of businesses against cyber threats, ultimately safeguarding their operations and data.
