Mobvoi, a Beijing-based tech company, has recently launched its Xulie Houzi AI large model. This launch was spearheaded by CEO Li Zhifei two months after he declared his goal to develope a Chinese version of OpenAI in 2020. This model has tens of billions of parameters, which is less than OpenAI’s GPT-3 model with approximately 175 billion parameters. Along with Xulie Houzi, Mobvoi presented four creation assistant products, such as drawing, writing, dubbing, avatar-led video, and livestreaming assistants that are all powered by AI.
Founded by ex-Google research scientist Li Zhifei in 2012, Mobvoi is the recipient of Series A fundings from Sequoia Capital China and Google. Since then, the company has continued to develop Chinese-language speech recognition technologies and gone on to release various wearables, including its own smartwatch OS.
Li Zhifei is the CEO of Mobvoi. He was a research scientist at Google prior to establishing the tech company in 2012. Since then, he has led the charge in Mobvoi’s development and technological advances, most recently with his goal to make a Chinese version of OpenAI. He is leading the company to success with the launch of their AI large model, Xulie Houzi.
