Gojira Labs is a New York-based game studio making waves in the NFT market with their recent announcement of Animatronic non-fungible tokens (aNFTs). Essentially, they are giving static NFTs the ability to become interactive and animated game characters, without disrupting their current community.
Mark Soares, President of Gojira Labs, said in an interview with GamesBeat, “I’m sure you’ve seen how gamers have objected to it. They objected to it because they’re tired of being monetized. And NFTs seemed like just another way to monetize them. So if I was them, I’d be annoyed too. We’re not bringing NFTs to games. We’re bringing games to NFTs. And it’s an important distinction because we are trying to bring utility and entertainment to current or existing NFT collections, which have very large community bases.”
In order to unlock the potential of these aNFTs, Gojira Labs has partnered up with Blokhaus and 100XP to form a joint venture to develop their aNFT Windows software and interoperable animation framework, called “Gooji”. This will enable developers to bring their PFP collections to life.
Gojira Labs is taking complete focus to provide utility for NFT holders and to enable them to use the NFTs in more games. And with the aNFT format, they provide an exploded view of full-body characters that can be animated. So, gamers and holders of specific PFPs can unlock their character to play in the first game, “Sprinft”, that Gojira Labs is developing.
Soares and his team at Gojira Labs are taking the gaming industry by storm and creating a product that appeals to gamers and NFT holders. He has made it clear; the goal of Gojira Labs is to combine elements to ensure everyone is entertained, not just monetized. His vision for expanding the uses of NFTs is sure to make a long-lasting impact on the gaming community.
