Malaysia Addresses Critical Issues in Parliament: Gaza Aid and Haze Laws
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 — The Malaysian Parliament, known as the Dewan Rakyat, is set to discuss several critical issues that have been at the forefront of national concern. Among them are the measures taken by Malaysia to assist and support the victims in Gaza, Palestine, following Israel’s actions in blocking access to basic necessities like electricity, food, water, and gas. The devastating consequences of these restrictions have prompted Tan Hong Pin, a member of the Parliament, to raise the matter to the Foreign Minister during the Minister’s Question Time (MQT).
In addition to addressing the dire situation in Gaza, the Parliament will also tackle the persistent issue of haze in the country. Datuk Idris Ahmad, a representative from Bagan Serai, will question the Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change about the laws that could be enforced on neighboring countries responsible for causing haze that engulfs Malaysia. The aim is to hold these countries accountable and find effective solutions to combat the haze problem.
The session will further shed light on the dangers of cyber threats and the misuse of artificial intelligence tools by cybercriminals. Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail seeks answers from the Minister of Communications and Digital about the law enforcement measures and public awareness initiatives regarding cyber threats. The misuse of AI tools by cybercriminals can result in data breaches, financial losses, and deceptive practices.
Additionally, the Parliament will address the concerns of street vendors, known as hawkers, in obtaining business licenses and suitable locations to conduct their businesses. Datuk Suhaimi Nasir will question the Minister of Local Government Development about the ministry’s initiatives and plans to support hawkers in their business operations.
The proceedings of the Dewan Rakyat are anticipated to last for 32 days, with the final session scheduled for November 30. During this period, multiple critical issues will be deliberated by Members of Parliament from various parties, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive approach to addressing these concerns.
As Malaysia takes center stage in Parliament, these discussions will not only help bring attention to the urgent situations in Gaza and the haze problem but also pave the way for potential solutions and actions to mitigate these challenges. The decisions made will have a lasting impact on the affected communities and contribute to a better future.
