Billionaire Twitter founder Elon Musk has warned once more about the potential risks to humanity of Artificial Intelligence – and believes an in-demand chatbot has a liberal prejudice that he plans to counter with his own AI invention. In a Fox News interview, Musk announced he will be creating an alternate to the ChatGPT chatbot named ‘TruthGPT’, described as “a maximum truth seeking AI that tries to understand the universal character”. His reasoning is a machine that wants to comprehend humanness is less likely to terminate it.
Musk called attention to his fear of ChatGPT being trained “to be politically correct”. His statement bolsters a chain of warnings and appeals to regulate AI, notably more dangerous than automobiles and spacecraft, possibly having the capability of putting an end to the human race. Musk has introduced a new venture, X.AI Corporation, enrolling him as its director with his ally Jared Birchall as secretary, in a Nevada business filing.
Musk has long championed his position on artificial intelligence, repudiating other technology pioneers such as Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates for their limited understanding of the matter. He was also an early investor of OpenAI, the progenitor of ChatGPT, and chaired its board when it was launched in 2015 as a non-profit AI research agency.
In 2018, he bowed out after only a few years in his position when he felt Tesla, which he runs, was contending for some of the same personnel as OpenAI, leading to a potential conflict of interest. OpenAI made known the defection pronounced that his disjoinment was because Tesla was moving towards a more heavy AI assistance.
Still, Tesla has had multiple issues with AI today. In March 2021, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced an investigation in a fatal traffic accident involving a Tesla speculated to have facilitated automated piloting when it drove into a parked fire truck in California.
Google has reacted to the growing popularity of ChatGPT by initiating its own chatbot. Meanwhile, headstrong investment trends in ChatGPT-based AI, together with a prompt to shut down riskier AI facilities, have contributed to a flurry of alarm.
X.AI Corp is Elon Musk’s attempt to neutralize any unfavorable implications to humanity that may stem from ChatGPT and other powerful artificial intelligence systems. Educators in particular must make adaptations for for AI chatbots like ChatGPT, which might be able to produce NCEA-worthy composition responses in mere seconds. Regulations imposed to protection from the potential harms of AI technology may provide a light at the end of the tunnel, however, as Musk is said to be an enthusiast of AI governance.
