Elon Musk Announces Launch of Microsoft-Backed Chatbot Competitor

Date:

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk recently announced his plans to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) platform, known as “TruthGPT”. The platform is a direct challenge to the Microsoft and Google-backed offerings from OpenAI, the company behind the popular chatbot ChatGPT. Musk claims that OpenAI has become a for-profit organization and it has “trained the AI to lie”. During an interview with Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk expressed his concerns about the lack of safety regulation concerning AI and his plans to launch ‘TruthGPT’ to offer a third option, and that this could possibly be “the best path to safety”.

Steve has taken his stance against the AI development seriously, and has been actively poaching AI researchers from Google to launch this startup to rival OpenAI. Elon Musk registered a firm named X.AI Corp, incorporated in Nevada, and was appointed as the sole director of the company. As a result of this, Elon Musk, a group of AI experts and industry executives proposed a six month pause on developing any systems more powerful than OpenAI’s GPT-4, in order to assess the potential risks to humanity and society.

Elon Musk is the founder and CEO of multiple successful companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, and recently purchased Twitter for approximately $44 billion. During his interview with Carlson, Musk revealed that he has recently valued Twitter at “less than half” of its acquisition price. On the other hand, Microsoft Corp further invested multi-billions in OpenAI, to compete with Google and to get a hold in the AI funding race in Silicon Valley.
