Einride launches electric self-driving trucks in UAE

Date:

Swedish start-up, Einride, is expanding its electric and autonomous freight transportation services to the Middle East through a collaboration with the UAE government to promote sustainable shipping in the region. By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government, Einride plans to develop the Falcon Rise Grid, which will span over a 550km stretch across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. The Falcon Rise Grid will encompass 2,000 electric trucks, 200 autonomous trucks, and eight charging stations with over 500 charging points. The project is expected to take five years to develop. Einride aims to decarbonise the freight industry by creating a holistic ecosystem that includes not only electric and autonomous fleets, but also an intelligent platform called Einiride Saga, charging infrastructure, and connectivity networks. Companies such as Coca Cola and Oatly have partnered with Einride and seen reductions of up to 95% in emissions while remaining cost-competitive.
