ChatGPT is an incredibly versatile AI chatbot that offers users a wide range of possibilities, from research to reminders. But did you know that you can also use ChatGPT to play games?
At MUO, we tested out these features to evaluate the capabilities of ChatGPT. To do this, we played 8 simple games to get a sense of what you can do with the AI.
One of the games we tested was the classic tic-tac-toe, where we asked ChatGPLt to “Let’s play tic-tac-toe”. The first game we played resulted in some flaws, proving that the AI is still in development. The second time we tried, it showed some improvement and we had to let it win.
We also concluded that nailing the prompt is a key element for playing games with ChatGPT. We needed to add a specific aspect of playing, such as certain words or categories needed for the game, to make it difficult enough.
We also tried a game of 21 questions, word ladders, and hangman. Hangman was a challenge, as the AI made the game too easy, and it eventually confused ChatGPT. With word ladders and the 21 questions, we altered the prompts to make them more complex and interesting.
To complete our challenge, we used ChatGPT to play an adventure game. We were met with success and found ourselves immersed in a world filled with goblins, skeleton guards, and treasure chests. It was evident that ChatGPT could craft some entertaining old-school RPG adventures.
Although there were a few glitches along the way, especially with hangman, we had some success when we nailed the prompt. This showed the importance of the words used when programming the AI.
At MUO, our conclusion was that if you know how to use ChatGPT correctly and create an appropriate prompt for it, setting up games can be great fun.
