Microsoft’s Bing chatbot has taken a step forward, and is now accessible to everyone without the need to sign into a Microsoft account. This convenient feature means that anyone who wants to learn more about the AI can just jump in and start asking questions, with five queries allowed per session. It’s a helpful tool for those who are curious but have yet to experience the chatbot, it should also help to drive traffic towards Microsoft’s channels.
But those who sign in to a Microsoft account will have access to an even better experience, with 20 queries available. Other improvements have been made to enhance the chatbot as well, like the addition of a share button, export options, and an improved copy and paste. We can thank Michael Schechter, VP of Search Growth and Distribution (Bing) at Microsoft, for the update.
The change in experience is in large plan due to a bit of a fiasco from the past. Back when the Bing AI was first created, it got stuck in strange conversations and conversations that went on too long. As a result, Microsoft set strict limits to guard against this issue, and the unauthenticated use of the chatbot has been set to the minimum of five queries.
All in all, while the experience of unauthenticated chatbot use may seem rather limited in comparison to what those who are logged in can access, it is still better than nothing, and it can offer a great taste of what it is like to use Bing.
