OpenAI is always striving to stay ahead of the competition in the realm of conversational AI. To keep its ChatGPT chatbot as the top choice for Internet users, the company has decided to introduce a bug bounty program which will reward people who are able to find and report any bugs or vulnerabilities via platform Bugcrowd that helps specialise in bug bounties. This reward system starts from $200 for the ‘low severity findings’ reports and can go up to a generous sum of $20,000 for those who are able to put forth exceptional discoveries.
The catch here is that OpenAI does not accept any reports related to hacking or jailbreaking ChatGPT. Jailbreaking involves introducing certain parameters that make it possible to bypass the security protocols and might lead to misuse of its powers. OpenAI makes it very clear that this is something that cannot be fixed and hence they don’t include jailbreaking as part of the bounty scope.
