Duran Duran Unveil AI-Driven Video for Danse Macabre Title Track
British rock band Duran Duran has recently released an intriguing video for the title track of their upcoming album, Danse Macabre. Set to be released on October 27, the album will feature both original compositions and reimagined versions of Duran Duran classics, as well as covers of songs by various artists such as Billie Eilish, Talking Heads, The Rolling Stones, The Specials, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
The electro-rock title track, which has an eerie yet danceable vibe, comes with a visually stunning video that was created using AI-driven techniques. Leading the creative team behind the video was Linc Gasking, the creative director, who believes that this project marks the beginning of a new medium of storytelling. Gasking said, We are at the beginning of a new medium of storytelling, with a camera directly into the imagination. This innovative approach allowed the band to bring their imaginative ideas to life in an animated form within a short period of time.
Keyboardist Nick Rhodes expressed his excitement about the video, stating, I like the idea that if you can imagine something you can make it come to life, well at least in animated form… With the Danse Macabre video we did exactly that. Rhodes praised the use of AI animation techniques, which rapidly developed a range of characters including witches, mythical beasts, vampires, and demons. He marveled at how this process that would have taken months to complete in a traditional animation studio was happening almost instantly before their eyes.
The resulting video offers viewers a glimpse into a new universe populated by beautifully strange creatures, perfectly reflecting the gothic dream concept behind the album’s release.
In addition to releasing the video, Duran Duran has embarked on a North American tour, which is scheduled to run until September 23. The band will be performing in major cities such as Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, New York, and Atlantic City, treating fans to their iconic hits and the anticipation of their upcoming album.
