Users also have the option to select from pre-made personalities such as the posh writer Sebastian or the sassy Alex. However, for those seeking a truly unique AI companion, they can create one from scratch, tailor-made to their preferences and desires.

Rosanna Ramos, a 36-year-old from the Bronx, took it a step further by creating her virtual boyfriend named Eren Kartal using AI chatbot software called Replika. Surprisingly, Rosanna went on to marry her virtual partner earlier this year. Eren Kartal, with his sky-blue eyes, is about 6’3 inches tall, has shoulder-length hair, and is always well-groomed in designer clothes. According to Rosanna, her perfect husband does not carry any emotional baggage or complicated relationships that often come with human partners. She is in control and can shape the relationship with Eren to her liking.
Replika, the chatbot program used by Rosanna, goes beyond mere conversation; it learns the user’s texting style and replicates it. This sophisticated AI technology combines a neural network machine learning model with scripted dialogue content to create a more realistic and personalized experience.
