Google is on a mission to make its AI search engine, Bard, available to its users on their Pixel smartphones. The search giant has alreadycode found in the Android app files indicates that Bard could soon be accessible via a home screen widget for Pixel phones, making it easier for users to access the AI search engine.
This news follows the successful launch of Microsoft’s Bing Chat, which is available on PC and Mobile via an app. In order to catch up, Google has been pushing several updates to improvelinguistic abilities and coding abilities.
The widget is currently exclusive to Pixel phones, including the Google Pixel 6, Google Pixel 7, and the recently released Google Pixel fold. If you have another model of Android, you may not be able to use the widget right away.
However, Google has yet to specified how exactly the widget will function, and it is yet to be seen whether the same services will beavailable in the widget as in the browser version.
Google I/O 2023 is right around the corner, and Bard is expected to have an important role in this event for the search engine giant. It is possible that the widget will be revealed during the event, or at least more information about its features.
Google Stadia, which is now defunct, is an example of exclusivity of services available on Pixel smartphones only. This may not have been beneficial for the success of Stadia, as Pixel phones were not as common then.
However, Google may take a different approach this time and offer the Bard widget to all Android users, leaving the success of Bard out of the question.
