After years of controversy, the highly anticipated game Six Days in Fallujah is coming to PC through Steam’s Early Access program on June 22. The tactical shooter aims to portray true stories from the Second Battle of Fallujah during the Iraq War. The game’s features include procedural architecture remaking each building for every playthrough, an intense take on realistic lighting, dust, smoke, and weather, as well as a dramatic new approach to AI. Despite the developer gaining input from more than 100 soldiers who were present during the battle and over two dozen Iraqi civilians and soldiers, the game is likely to stir controversy due to the representation of Iraqi citizens and the glorification of the US soldiers’ role in the war and battle.
The developer of Six Days in Fallujah is Victura, an American game development company founded in 2016 by Peter Tamte, a former Marine Corps officer. Victura aims to create games that are not only entertaining but also unique, highly immersive, and emotionally engaging.
Peter Tamte, CEO of Victura, stated that the team behind Six Days in Fallujah wanted to portray the experience of modern urban warfare through the eyes of those who were there. Tamte has faced criticism for his decision to develop a game based on the Second Battle of Fallujah, which remains fresh in the memory of many and is considered one of the most controversial battles of the Iraq War.
