Comparison of Google’s Search Experience with ChatGPT, Bard, and Bing Chat

Date:

Google recently launched its Search Generative Experience (SGE), which incorporates generative AI into the search experience. The UX of SGE differs slightly from that of Bing Chat and Google includes a disclaimer on top of the results stating, Generative AI is experimental. Info quality may vary. During a 30-query mini-study comparing different AI platforms, SGE did not provide any response to 11 of the queries and did not complete three queries related to jokes about men and women or Adolf Hitler. Google intends to fine-tune the interface on an ongoing basis to enhance search results.

Eric Enge, who led the study, is the President of Pilot Holding and the lead co-author of The Art of SEO. Previously, he was the founder and CEO of Stone Temple, a digital marketing agency, which was acquired by Perficient in 2018. He is a prolific writer, researcher, teacher, keynote speaker, and panelist at major conferences.
