ChatGPT Feature from OpenAI Enables Users to Disable Chat History Now

Date:

OpenAI, the Microsoft-backed company behind the ChatGPT chatbot, has just unveiled a new feature which allows users to choose whether to enable or disable their chat history. This option can be accessed by selecting the new option in ChatGPT’s sidebar and users can turn their chat history on or off whenever they want – including the option to make it so that the chatbot does not use interactions with it for training its models. OpenAI said it hopes this new feature “provides an easier way to manage your data than our existing opt-out process”. It also announced that a ChatGPT Business subscription is in the works, providing professionals and enterprises more control over their data, along with exporting stored data via email.

OpenAI researches, develops and builds artificial intelligence solutions, with a focus on giving users control over their data. Founded in late 2022, the public was first able to use ChatGPT, which quickly became popular but drew attention from officials in Italy in connection to regulations on privacy.

The new feature has drawn attention from Nobel Prize-winning economist Sir Christopher Pissarides who has discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on jobs and the workweek. Some of Sir Pissarides’ research suggests that the disruption caused by AI solutions to current labor markets could result in the shortening of the workweek, making for more leisure and free time for people.

At the same time, the company is creating a ‘data leak crisis-prevention tool’ to prevent company secrets from being fed to ChatGPT. Data-protection is a high priority for OpenAI and other companies in this space as solutions and technology are rapidly evolving.
