Climate Q&A is a new online tool developed by the French company Ekimetrics, and built on ChatGPT blocks. It allows users to get answers to all sorts of questions about environmental issues. It relies on a carefully curated selection of reliable sources, such as those of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the International Energy Agency, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
The tool works by using the most advanced optical character recognition techniques so that it can identify the most relevant parts of these reports and answer questions in a more accurate way. Every quotation that it uses and pulls from the original source is always referenced, allowing deeper investigations into the source.
Now, even though these sources are mainly in English, Climate Q&A is already available to some other languages, such as French, Spanish, and Italian. It can be found, in open source form, on the Hugging Face platform.
The main purpose of the company Ekimetrics is to highlight the importance of data science and its effects on the green transition.
The initiative was initiated by Ekunetrics, a French company specialising in using data science for environmental and social causes. It was led by Julien Ruaux, an environmental engineer from the École Polytechnique and a PhD in Sustainability and Data Science. His multi-disciplinary background has enabled him to pursue a unique vision for Ekimetrics, and develop a powerful tool such as Climate Q&A.
