OpenAI, a leader in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, has recently extended the reach of its popular ChatGPT app by introducing support for iOS users in India and 32 other countries. After seeing remarkably successful download numbers in the United States within its initial 6-day launch period, the app is now being offered in more countries for iPhone users. It can be downloaded for free and does not contain advertisements. Through the Whisper speech recognition tool, ChatGPT has comprehensive voice input capabilities, and the ChatGPT Plus subscription, which is priced at Rs 1,999 per month in India, will offer users access to features powered by GPT-4. This expansion is part of OpenAI’s strategy to make its services available across different platforms and to meet the needs of broader user groups.
Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, has been actively engaging with policymakers all over the world to understand their views on AI. Altman held meetings with European state heads and is scheduled to visit India soon. This outreach was initiated with the aim of gathering insights into policymakers’ philosophies and creating better connections with them.
The ChatGPT app, while currently exclusive to iOS, is being readied for an Android release in the near future. The app offers an easy-to-use and interactive platform to access information and solutions while on the go. It includes chat history and the ability to disable Training Mode to limit user data access. There is also an image upload function currently in testing mode, allowing users to upload images for analyzing in the context of the conversation and to create and manage detailed lists.
OpenAI has designed ChatGPT with a focus on providing a great user experience. A few initial performance issues have been reported, but the variety of features make it a powerful tool for users. Now available in India, as well as 32 other countries, ChatGPT already has several million users after just two months since its web version launch. With its inclusion of Hindi language support, the app looks well-positioned to capture a large user base in India and remain prominent among the AI chatbot platforms.
