European lawmakers are pushing for new rules on the development of advanced artificial intelligence technology, such as the popular chatbot ChatGPT. In an open letter to be released on Monday, influential EU legislators stated that owing to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence in the recent months, new rules should be in place to regulate these powerful technologies.
ChatGPT is one of the leading AI-powered chatbot products developed by Advanced AI Inc. It provides an easy-to-use, intelligent chatbot platform that enables businesses to automate customer service and provide personalized experiences. The company also develops advanced AI tools for predictive analytics and natural language processing.
The European lawmakers’ proposal for new regulations comes amidst increased concerns about the ethical implications of artificial intelligence technologies, as well as potential risks to consumers. The letter proposed giving regulators the power to impose rules and restrictions on the development and use of AI, in order to protect user data and sensitive information, as well as safeguard privacy.
Irus Braverman, the legal expert who helped craft the letter, stated that “we cannot simply allow the development of these powerful technologies without effective regulations in place. We must find ways to ensure that AI is used safely and ethically.” Braverman further argued that while technology has the potential to be used to improve people’s lives, there must be proper safeguards to prevent abuse.
The push for new regulations on AI technology marks a significant move towards regulating difficult ethical issues surrounding the development and use of AI technology. It is expected that the proposal will be discussed in more detail in the European Parliament in the future.
