Celebrate Ramadan at Qatar National Library with Language Workshops and Cultural Events

Date:

Qatar National Library (QNL) is gearing up to showcase the richness of the Arabic language and delve deeper into the Holy Qur’an in a series of events throughout the month of April. From children’s activities to workshops on language, history, technology, and literature, QNL has a diverse lineup planned to cater to various interests and ages.

The month kicked off with Stories from the Qur’an, a children-oriented series aimed at introducing young minds to the wisdom behind the stories in the Holy Qur’an. Following this, the Fiqh and Beauty series will focus on highlighting the important role of women in Islam, as well as exploring principles of purity, prayer, and ethics.

For non-native speakers interested in learning Arabic, a workshop in collaboration with the Tomouh Initiative will provide beginners with the basics, followed by an advanced level session. In addition, a workshop on designing video games will be offered, along with a session on utilizing AI tools in research to maintain academic integrity.

As the month progresses, QNL will host a masterclass on historical non-fiction writing, a lecture comparing Arabic and English languages, and an evening with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra featuring Brahms’ String Quintet. The library will also offer opportunities for aspiring writers to exchange ideas, discuss writing techniques in Arabic, and participate in the Principles of Game Design workshop.

Furthermore, a series on child language development by coach Ghaya Salah will shed light on how children acquire language skills, while the Career Launchpad programme will equip jobseekers with resume-building skills and interview preparation. The month will conclude with a session on academic integrity and plagiarism, emphasizing the importance of ethical research practices.
