Joe Rogan has been a major figure in the UFC commentary booth. With an incredible career spanning standup comedy and acting, Rogan has established himself as a global presence through his popular podcast network. As his success continues to grow, Rogan has reduced the number of UFC events he covers from twelve to ten a year. Fans across the globe miss their beloved Rogan and the UFC would love to have Rogan back for every card – but to convince Rogan to up his workload? Seems difficult indeed.
But now, technology might offer a more feasible solution. Rogan recently tweeted a video that showcased a podcast episode created using AI voice synthesizing software by ChatGPT. This artificial podcast episode lasted only 51 minutes, and while Rogan’s familiar rhetoric and facial expressions weren’t there, his unmistakable style of talk still shone through.
ChatGPT’s AI software uses hours and hours of recorded audio and video to create a digital clone of Joe Rogan. With such technology, the UFC could not only get Rogan back for more broadcasts, but could even theoretically broadcast his voice live from the comfort of his own home. While the technology may sound complicated and definitely needs more refinement, it’s entirely possible that we’ll soon be able to draw the line between artificial and actual Rogan unobservably.
The main question remains – will the UFC go through with this? We’ll have to wait and see, although we have some hope since Rogan is expected to return to the commentary for UFC 288 in Newark, New Jersey. This upcoming event is projected to be headlined by Aljamain Sterling and former two-division champion Henry Cejudo. Until then, we’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope Joe Rogan gets back to doing what he does best!
