Kraken Technology Group, a British defense contractor, has teamed up with BlueHalo to enhance their unmanned surface and underwater systems with cutting-edge artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) solutions. This collaboration will involve integrating BlueHalo’s autonomous capabilities with various Kraken platforms, including the K3 Scout sea drone, the K4 Manta submarine vehicle, and the K5 Kraken gunship. These vehicles will also feature BlueHalo’s Titan and SkyView counter-unmanned aerial system payloads to protect against airborne threats during maritime operations.
According to BlueHalo CEO Jonathan Moneymaker, this strategic partnership will enable them to expand into the maritime domain and incorporate leading technologies to outsmart adversaries. By incorporating AI/ML technology, Kraken’s vehicles will benefit from improved situational awareness, autonomous navigation, and multi-vessel swarming capabilities. This innovative approach is expected to lead to advancements in maritime autonomy and littoral solutions for national security purposes.
Kraken CEO Mal Crease expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing the shared vision and expertise between the two companies. The partnership aims to deliver game-changing capabilities quickly in response to the growing market demand for advanced maritime technologies. Previously, Kraken had collaborated with L3Harris to enhance the Manta submarine drone and with Thales to upgrade the K5 Kraken’s precision capabilities.
The joint efforts of Kraken and BlueHalo are poised to revolutionize maritime technology and meet critical customer needs efficiently. By combining their strengths in AI/ML solutions and autonomous systems, the two companies are paving the way for enhanced maritime operations and innovative national security applications.
